Our Story

In the fall of 2020, the importance of art and community became more apparent as the world grappled with unprecedented changes, isolation, and grief. During these moments of introspection and virtual collaboration, the foundation for Sweetfruit was laid. Many of us recognized the transformative power of art and the strength found in community. For Isaiah Sanabria, this realization sparked the creation of a collective that aimed to embody these values. Isaiah founded Sweetfruit as a sanctuary for independent creatives who share a common belief in art's healing and unifying nature. 

The collective is still in its early stages, with fewer than ten individuals spread across four U.S. locations. Communication and collaboration are facilitated through platforms like Slack and Google Meet, allowing for a seamless exchange of ideas, feedback, and partnership on various projects. We’ve lovingly dubbed it a “group chat” because, at its core, that’s kind of what we are. Our mission is to reimagine how we work as independent artists, breaking down silos and collaborating on projects that resonate with us and our immediate communities. 

Becoming a Member

  • We select members based on their professionalism and passion, whether they are formally trained or self-taught. Our focus is on individuals who are not only skilled in their craft but are also passionate about growing and evolving in their creative journey. We value diversity and unique perspectives, encouraging applications from those who bring fresh, underrepresented viewpoints.

    Alignment with our core values of inclusivity, collaboration, honesty, and impact is crucial. We seek individuals whose work, approach, and vision reflect these principles, contributing to a rich, value-driven community.

    As a collective, collaboration is our lifeblood. We value members eager to share knowledge, work together on projects, and contribute positively to the community. Quality of work is paramount, and applicants must submit a portfolio or work samples highlighting their talent and creativity.
